What does Jones explain about Failure? What must failure do for us? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer: she explains failure to be what you presive it as and if you are ashamed you would most likely see it as a failure or see yourself as a failure. she explained how much shame she felt on page 124 she says"we come up with stories about who we are because of it" therefor implying that you are what you are what you are making of it.

Describe the time that Jones Failed? How did she handle the situation? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer: the time that she failed is when she wanted to sit in and be apart of this conference discussion and she had gotten told to sit out. in this case I think she felt like she failed because it was important and he wasn't able to be apart of it.

Based on the situation above, how was the community affected and how was Jones as a leader affect? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer: from her failure she has grown and had her own voice that she was finally proud of and she wanted to share it, she grew into the leader that she is. the text says," the strength of her voice" talking about herself in this case realizing how important her and her opinions ae

What did Jones take away from this circumstance after the death of Toni Morrison? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer: Joans learned that writers and artists don't stop just because they get critiqued and she does say that in the book.

Opinion Based Questions: Your experiences, and thoughts after the reading

In your opinion, did the community respond appropriately to the failure Jones experienced? Explain why or why not - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer: in my opinion the community failed her because they had made her sit out of the conversation for not being an African American because she wasn't born in America

What can this chapter teach us about the importance of partnership between a leader and the community? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer: its hard to be a leader knowing that sometimes the community is going to not always agree with what the leader says which can lead to feelings of failure.

Focus Questions: “Chapter 6: Fail Loudy”

What does Jones explain about Failure? What must failure do for us? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer:

In the beginning page of chapter 6 Jones explains that, “failure is necessary and essential for us to live boldly.” Failure must knock this down before we pick ourselves up and realize that we have actually made a mistake and by this mistake we can improve and grow into our better selves.

Describe the time that Jones Failed? How did she handle the situation? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer:

The time that Jones failed was a time where she had made a tweet that ruffled some feathers for people and she got attacked for it and was called out her name and was told that she needed to go back to Africa and like a lot of derogatory terms that were made at her. She handled the situation by what she thought would be the best, which is ignoring the situation for a little while and then coming forward in a blog post and going over the controversy. She didn't say sorry which also might have left people a little unsatisfied with her coming forward, but she acknowledged the problem.

Based on the situation above, how was the community affected and how was Jones as a leader affected? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer:

I'm not sure what this question is asking specifically but I think the community was affected by how Jones stepped forward and decided to come out with her publicity post and I think this enlarged her community, she realized that she does have a big audience and what she says may or may not affect them. This affected Jones as a leader because it gave her a new perspective that she does have a large audience and people do get their feelings hurt and she needs to take account for that. She also knows that you can make mistakes and you can learn from them to become Who You Are.

What did Jones take away from this circumstance after the death of Toni Morrison? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer:

After the death of Toni Morrison Jones took away that, artists do make a lot of mistakes but it doesn't affect their craft and ambition to their work. She has been compared to big celebrity names like Beyoncé, Serena Williams, and Oprah who always get a lot of backlash but never come forward to address them; they simply just live their lives and do extraordinary stuff that will overshine the hate.

Opinion Based Questions: Your experiences, and thoughts after the reading

In your opinion, did the community respond appropriately to the failure Jones experienced? Explain why or why not - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer:

In my opinion the community did not respond appropriately to the failure of Jones because I feel like people have the entitlement to their own opinions or anything they say. If it isn't too offensive or derogatory I feel like if people can make their own opinions, then other people can also make their opinions on how they feel about that opinion, but they shouldn't be calling people out their names or coming after them; people are human too.

What can this chapter teach us about the importance of partnership between a leader and the community? - Provide text evidence from chapter to support answer:

This chapter can teach us the importance of partnership between a leader and a community by knowing that a leader has to understand their community first before they feel the need to say things that might come out as offensive to others and, communities need to understand that a leader can say what they want but it is your job to either keep following or leave the team if anything makes you feel uncomfortable, because you are entitled to the way you feel. Both sides need to understand each other before there is a broken “trust”.
